Native across a wide swath of eastern Asia from Siberia and Mongolia to China, Korea, and Japan, golden lace is a tall, airy perennial with finely divided, fern-like foliage low to the ground and open, flat-topped umbels of small, bright yellow flowers held on thin, wiry stems well above it. The see-through habit lets it thread through a border without blocking shorter plants behind it.
It's heat- and humidity-tolerant and easy in average well-drained soil, blooming over a long stretch from summer into early fall. Bees, flies, and wasps visit heavily, with the occasional butterfly.
